It’s funny what kinds of laws our lawmakers are trying to spring on us. There was that flag change. Now, it’s making sure that Pinoy time is synchronized with HB 6905.

But hey, it’s not like we don’t have our own time zone (+8 GMT). We could just hope whatever this time is, it’d be synched with Coordinated Universal Time and not something decided on politician’s absurd whim.

Well, to be fair, there’s a bit of sense in this move. Valenzuela Rep. Magtanggol Gunigundo, claims that doing so will do a lot of good.

“With a set PST, we can welcome a new year in unison, blend time sensitive chemical mixtures like medicine and food ingredients and synchronize security locks and other devices. By synchronizing the official watches and clocks in the entire archipelago, all Filipinos can sing the national anthem at the same time.”

And like time ever really mattered to people in this country. One of the reasons I feel that our country is so backwards-ass is due to our irreverence to schedules. Pinoy time is attitude-driven, not clock-driven. Even with the planned “National Time Consciousness Week” planned to greet every new year, it would take a cultural overhaul to do.

That’s how we do business. Molasses, baby!
