Personally, I’d place Scottie Pippen as one of the most versatile small forwards in the history of basketball. But what else does he need to prove by going back?

Jeez, he’s 41 for starters. Though he may be, as claims, in the best shape of his life, he’s been out of pro ball for two and a half seasons. What’s he really thinking, trying to do a Mike and return to the game past his b-ball prime?

Okay, he’s dubbed as one of the greatest 50 players of all time. Won 6 championships with Mike. One of the best thieves ever and a very respectable rebounder for his position and size. What does he still have to prove? The only thing he didn’t have was an MVP. Charles Barkley and Karl Malone did but they did not taste even a single championship. Scottie’s got six.

Now I think this is a case of “I want to prove myself as not just the guy behind Mike.” But at 41, I think it’s too late. He had his chances with the Rockets and in Portland to shine and prove that he’s not just the right-hand man but a legit star. He is, but compared to Jordan… F*ck ego. F*ck pride.

I was up at arms when Jordan decided to play for the Wizards (after the perfect possible ending a player could have). And I am too, with Scottie.
