For the longest time, this blog has gone for that minimalist look. Even with the all-powerful WPUnlimited theme, I managed to strip it down to a plain white structure with orange accents. Maybe it’s about time I try to add a bit of dynamism in this blog’s spartan feel.
There are quite a lot of stunning themes out there but I’d say that this is the first time when a blog theme’s looks convinced me to switch themes. This lovely blue and white theme is called Compositio crafted by none other than blog design savant, Design Disease.

I met my old boss yesterday just to talk a few things about the state of e-learning here in the Philippines since I’m exploring it as a possible study to do over the next year. While in my old office, I was made aware of this new learning system provider. I was quite puzzled when they told me the website address – www.happyd.edu.ph.
Now that puzzled me because, as far as I know, that edu.ph is only made available to educational institutions and training centers authorized by the state.

Finally took time off to upgrade this site to WordPress 2.2. I’m amazed at how seamlessly I got to upgrade from 2.1.3 to 2.2. I was a bit nervous that my plug-ins and widgets wouldn’t work especially with the widgets sidebar now integrated with the system. But lo and behold I just followed the SOPs, and it upgraded seamlessly. Amazing.
Team Sugoi is currently exploring a site design tweak for Sugoi Stuff so watch out for that one too.

I’ve been meaning to create a more streamlined design for this site. With Blogging Pro releasing so many cool designs, I wanted to adopt one and customize it a bit. Haven’t really found one that fits this blogs personality yet. I tried customizing the Blogging Pro theme.
I finally disabled the fluid layout for this site to prevent the mucky CSS positioning when viewed in IE6. Come on guys, use Firefox!

Anyway, to those wondering if my Good Friday curse struck, good news for me, nothing happened. Maybe it’s because I practically went hermit yesterday. The less things you do, the less risks you expose yourself to.

I’ve been using Mozilla Firefox ever since it first made its rounds in the browser market. And by golly I haven’t really used Internet Explorer for quite a while. Why? Because IE plain sucks. As far as my experiences with CSS and web design, following web standards have always displayed the way I meant the page to be in Firefox. That’s not the case with IE.
And so is the case of my current design. I’m using WordPress 2.1 with sidebar widgets and I’ve followed CSS design provisions. It even checks out as valid both in XHTML Transitional and CSS in the W3C site.
Then again, I haven’t checked it out with varied resolutions. I know the IFRAME of Adsense ads will definitely affect fluidity but the design works quite well in 1024 x 768 setting in Firefox. I’ve tried it out with IE 7 (and since it’s mostly a cheap Firefox knock-off) it displays quite well too, with the exception of margins and the like.
But this afternoon I tried viewing it in IE 6 and then, boom! It struck me, a non-maximized IE browser really messes the layout up.
So for IE users there, I’m so sorry, but I just might have to suggest that you download Firefox (see my right sidebar for a link). That’d make web designers breathe a lot easier. IE is a hell to design for!
