I know people’s takes on the The Dark Knight remain polarized. Some people loved it. Others people hated it. Well, I loved it and that’s that. For those who belong to the opposite pole, better close your browser tab. Go surf porn. While I wouldn’t make this a full-blown fanboy rave, this post will mostly contain praises for the film.

The title says it all. Batman and Robin and their chronic nipple-itis destroyed the Batman film franchise but Batman Begins turned things around. And even compared to the Tim Burton Batman movies, I considered Batman Begins as the best Batman movie ever. That was then.

Then The Dark Knight came along.

I just can believe how expensive everything is nowadays. I was cleaning my desk a couple of days ago and stumbled upon an old Shell receipt with the price per liter of their then flagship fuel Velocity was Php 16 per liter. Php 16!!! Those were the times when me and my college barkada (with me as the perpetual pilot) would be able to go to SM Megamall and back to UP in within our 3-hour break to grab a movie. And it was indeed cheaper to bring a car than pay for fare for 5 people.

I queued up for gas and the price for Shell’s flagship V-Power is at Php 58+. My Php 1000, which was supposed to last me for the rest of the month, filled my tank with only 17 liters. Which, given the mileage I get from my car would allow me to travel 145 kms. 8-10 home to UP and back. Even minimizing the number of trips I have to make in a week failed to cut down on my transportation expenses. I still have to go to UP since I’m already in the process of writing my thesis proposal. And just the fact that making the trip costs a lot sucks balls.

Author’s Note: Spoilers after the cut

Last week, I found semblance of life outside my hermit’s cave, went out with the (future) missus and watched Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World’s End. Now, with still a few choices of what to watch with Shrek 3 and Spider-man 3 (yeah, very late), we decided on Pirates since we also watched the last installment together (especially since it had a cliffhanger ending). To our benefit, we found it quite entertaining to give Pirates a thumbs up.

With all the gossip blogs online, you’re bound to get some indecent piece of rumor. The latest one to warn me of the Apocalypse is this – Olsen as Bond Girls. If you’ve first heard the rumor, you’d probably be going “Aaaaaaaargh!” Hehehe. I did.

I’m a big Bond fan. I grew up watching those Bond movies from Sean Connery, to George Lazenby, to Roger Moore, to Timothy Dalton, to Pierce Brosnan, and, finally to Daniel Craig. So practically each and every one of them official Bond movies (plus Never Say Never and except the spoof ones).

Am no Harry Potter fan. But since this guy just showed his gonads on stage and he’ll still be Harry Potter, you’ll wonder where he uses his wand and broomstick when no one’s looking. Anyway, here’s the newly released Harry Potter: Order of the Phoenix poster.
