Take a load of this news bit from the Inquirer – NBI seizes ‘pirated’ fish sauce.
First thoughts – patis?!? CDs? Okay. DVDs? Sure. But patis?
So we’ve heard of many other brands getting infringed and knocked-off like chalk-ridden detergent and super diluted shampoo in sachets. So ladies and gentlemen, 2007 ushers in a technological breakthrough. Never mind pirating HD-DVDs or Blu-ray. We have pirated patis.
I don’t know if the NBI should really be commended for this bust. I mean, they’re using a good deal of taxpayers’ money to bust pirated fish sauce. I’m not too keen with the NBI, especially with their ever rude attendants in NBI clearance centers.
Okay, so I am a bit biased. It’s a bit comforting to see that one government agency is doing its job. Though I’d be more comforted once they update their website and put more beef on their “Famous Cases” page (which as of this writing is still “under construction” after years of being online) and trim down some from their “Most Wanted” list.
Next stop: Pirated ‘bigas’ (rice).
