Google AdSense vs. Barack Obama?

Probably not Google itself. But check out this AdSense ad posted beside a YouTube video of his speech:

Barack Obama AdSense

Which means someone is buying keywords so that “Obama” as keyword will generate paid-for links to anti-Christ websites. Crazy people.

Obama for ’08!

A bad week for personal tech

This week is has been uber bad for me and technology. So PayPal finally gave me back what spare change there is in my PayPal account. But a few more things got screwed up, affecting my efficiency as a tech worker. Two more booboos for the week – 1) my Google Account got disabled and 2) my lappie’s screen hinges are shot.

Not even a week has passed, then it was my Google account that got blocked. Yup. It’s the one where I keep some crucial messages and is linked to some other important online accounts. I don’t know what happened but for some reason I end up getting that “Sorry, your account has been disabled” message. I tried what was written in the help center to no avail. Even after 24 hours of waiting as stated.

How come H&D has a .edu.ph?

I met my old boss yesterday just to talk a few things about the state of e-learning here in the Philippines since I’m exploring it as a possible study to do over the next year. While in my old office, I was made aware of this new learning system provider. I was quite puzzled when they told me the website address – www.happyd.edu.ph.

Now that puzzled me because, as far as I know, that edu.ph is only made available to educational institutions and training centers authorized by the state.

Dwight Howard wins slam dunk contest with a layup?

I don’t know how this qualifies as a dunk. His hand did not even touch the rim though his jump’s height created that illusion of him dunking the ball. But I have to give him props for showmanship with that cape and “S” on the chest. That’s how you make the crowd go wild. But hey, was that even a dunk? Definition of the dunk shot remains “propelling the ball downwards into the basket.” Grabbing the rim doesn’t seem to be a prerequisite so maybe, just maybe, that was a dunk shot.

PayPal restored my account

After two sleepless nights of thinking whether my hard-earned money will end up with PayPal, I finally got my answer. They restored my account’s functionality. $715 is worth 3 months’ salary in UP, poor us minimum wage teachers. Now I can try to sleep, finally.

Personally, I hated the experience. By principle I never grovel and I believe in giving a person what the person is due. And a person is always due what is rightfully his, especially if it’s money. I am glad that I got my account back but I think this is a PayPal horror story on its own.
