Discourse, Society, Language, New Media, and I

A nice title for a book on post-colonial discourse but I’d waste it on a newsflash. Haha.
If you haven’t seen the news lately, Mexican tycoon Carlos Slim Helu, just bumped former World’s Richest Man Bill Gates to number two and former number two Warren Buffet to numero tres.
Forbes hasn’t really pegged these figures yet to make it to the Forbes list officially so we’ll just have to wait.
In any case, it’s scary how this guy from Mexico can bump Billy off the top. And how, a guy from a country with a per capita of around $9000 can be so rich. Why wonder? Here we have Henry Sy, Lucio Tan and John Gokongwei anywei so that shouldn’t come as a surprise, right?
In any case, it’s the rise of the third-world comprador, I tell you.
