Discourse, Society, Language, New Media, and I
I met with my class this afternoon and talking about people (or insects) that suddenly barge inside a Diliman classroom, I mentioned that student activists are included in the bunch. Well, I confessed that I was one back in my days as an undergraduate. Was.
While I have tried to live a life distant from the things that had me disillusioned, I find myself actually writing on my views on politics and society. Perhaps, it’s just I. Besides, I am, by training, a critical discourse analyst. And the theories I’ve learned and applied are rooted in the principles of Gramsci and Althusser.
Pedestrian Observer started this meme in efforts to rally bloggers for more socially relevant interchange of discourses particularly on the senseless political violence that plagues our society. As I obliged Nick’s nudge on posting something about Dimasidsing, I felt compelled to participate in this call.
Yes. Even as a petty-bourgeois blogger and educator, I have a responsibility to freedom and democracy.

Hi! I'm Alex, a 20-something blogger writing about the discourses of social media. Once in a while I still let slip posts about the mundane, the asinine, and the trivial. Feel free to contact me.
