News Flash/Speedlink:

Rico Blanco leaves Rivermaya courtesy of rebelpixel productions.

I’m still in shock with the news. Rico has got to be one of my favorite local music personalities out there. And Rivermaya became a favorite ever since he took the reigns and led ‘Maya to transformations.

Likewise, no offense to the amazing talent that is the remainder of the group but ‘Maya without Rico is pretty much like pork adobo without the pork.

Uhmm… maybe the other guys can finally try it out on their own. I mean their pretty talented and all. The only problem is, I don’t think they have the charisma that Rico has. Tsk! Rico, bahket?!

I’ve never been happier for not being a Rivermaya fan.

That’s too bad really, but I’ve never been a fan of Rico myself, although his music writing ability is great from what I hear..

I jumped off the bandwagon as soon as bamboo left..

I didn’t care much for Rivermaya during Bamboo’s stint with the band. I was more into Wolfgang and Razorback – heck, make that exclusively. haha. When the Himig ng Dekada series came out, I realized that the old Rivermaya hits were pretty good, so I warmed up to the songs from Trip and other earlier albums.

For me, ‘Maya has always been Rico though I’ve grown to respect the new guys like Japs and Mike. But ‘Maya without Rico… It’s just sad.
