Pinoy Blogger Survey: What language do you use in blogging?

In: Education| Internet and Web| Language

20 Mar 2007

Hi guys. I’m inviting all Pinoy bloggers to take part in this quick and dirty survey.

This is a very simple survey and I don’t plan in making grandiose claims with the results of this one. Just a simple experiment (if you will :p).

If you have any comments or justifications to your vote (like if you want to share why you prefer the use of a language) please leave a comment below. I can’t give out monetary compensation for your participation, just my heartfelt thanks. :D

Check out these other posts:

  1. Language studies and blogging
  2. A few new insights on blogging for literacy in the Philippine context
  3. Pinoy “citizen journalism”, politics, and campaign period
  4. English language teaching and church hymns
  5. Will blogging for literacy work in the Philippine context?

English all the way – why? I suck real bad when I talk in 100% Filipino. I know oodles of words ala Chiz Escudero but I don’t have the talent to string them together to form intelligible sentences. It ends up being being a balagtasan piece – just like Chiz! hahaha

Filipino makes me sound really pretentious and I hate that. We all know just how down-to-earth I am.

Mainly English because my readership also includes New Yorkers who were born and raised there, though others had migrated out West. I wanted them to read about what’s good about this old city that I love.

I blog mostly in English because I’m more comfortable using it. Earlier, I’ve been browsing blogs that are written in Filipino and I was surprised that I’ve to read slowly and reread posts. I fear that my reading comprehension in Filipino is deteriorating. :-(

Nagsusulat ako ng Tagalog. Dati, may iba akong blog para sa English at Tagalog pero tinigil ko na yung Ingles na blog dahil tinamad na akong baguhin yung domain nya.
