Discourse, Society, Language, New Media, and I

Whenever my brain needs a jumpstart, I just pop in a deebeedee and watch a movie. Some may take a nap, or do some other things but it’d be a movie for me.
I remember creating a collection of classic school-related flicks and lo and behold I ended up watching the movie adaptation Grease (Yes, the one with pre-Let’s Get Physical Olivia Newton-John and a John Travolta with mad hips).
It’s a musical so I think that’s the only thing I liked about it would be the music sequences. It’s a bit of a nostalgia trip hearing the “Grease” theme, “Grease Lightning” and “Summer Nights.”
The acting is quite horrendous with all the choppy dialog. It may have worked in Broadway but I found it too messy for the screen. Forget the dance sequences too. It wasn’t Saturday Night Fever folks. You’ve got John Travolta upstaging Olivia Newton-John every step of the way. No wonder Travolta faded away into semi-obscurity until Tarantino picked him up as Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction, what, 16 years after. Hehehe.
Hmm… Now I’ve got to look for that copy of Grease 2 with Michelle Pfeiffer.
I’m still writing my take on 300 for Sugoi Stuff and Grease just left me with a smudge on my brain. Yelch.
